Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Beta2 (a.k.a Windows Phone 7.1 Developer Tools–beta 2) is released

Microsoft has released(06/28/2011) BETA2 of their new Windows Phone 7.1 Developer Tools.

The new Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Beta2 (renamed from WPDT – Windows Phone Developer Tools) can be used to develop Applications for both 7.0 and 7.1 version of Windows Phone OS releases.

The Windows Phone SDK includes the following

  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1 (Beta2)
  • Windows Phone Emulator (Beta2)
  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Assemblies (Beta2)
  • Silverlight 4 SDK and DRT
  • Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Extensions for XNA Game Studio 4.0
  • Microsoft Expression Blend SDK Preview for Windows Phone 7.1
  • WCF Data Services Client for Window Phone 7.1
  • Microsoft Advertising SDK for Windows Phone 7

What is new in Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Beta 2

The new changes/features included in Windows Phone SDK 7.1 Beta 2 as per AppHub News

The Beta 2 update reflects API changes in the app platform and many improvements in the developer tools.

  • Profiler – Profile the performance of UI and code within an app. The profiler works on apps that are deployed to and run on a Windows Phone 7.5 device.
  • Emulator – Faster and more stable.
  • Isolated Storage Explorer – Fully access the isolated storage of an application deployed to either the device or the emulator.
  • Advertising SDK – Now included in the phone SDK. The advertising SDK is only usable within the United States.
